GM Construction

Celebrating 30 years of a family run business with national success

With three decades experience as one of the leading building contractor and timber systems specialists in the North East, we wanted the GM website to be more than just informative, it was our goal to convey the company’s history, approach, talent and expansion of facilities. To achieve this we knew that photography was going to play a prominent role in the website design.

We worked closely with GM to create a striking custom brand identity using geometric shapes inspired by the angular timber cuts used in traditional house building techniques – something that GM are renowned for.

Following the identity creation, we rolled the new minimal look out across a series of marketing materials such as print material, signage and vehicle liveries. We also created a set of brand guidelines which would look to inform any further brand development for the team at GM.

We framed the imagery with a sleek and simple web design, keeping text to a minimum to allow the images to speak for themselves. Any large pieces of text featured on the website were broken up into palatable sections, and written in a personable tone of voice with minimal jargon to broaden audience appeal.

Showcasing the in-house capabilities of GM was important as they wanted highlight both the construction side of the business as well as the timber manufacturing side. Working again with Grant Anderson, we set out to photograph the team and capture the skills and experience they have in traditional building methods.

The subtle animations that feature throughout the site inject energy, creating an engaging and dynamic experience for visitors.

The team at GM have worked on some incredible projects, from the Highland Games Centre in Braemar opened by the Queen in 2018, through to bespoke new build homes across Scotland. We created a site that would effectively communicate the calibre of such projects.
